Copernicana's next Polish oral history adventure takes us to the very heart of Startford upon Avon - the house of Teresa and Zbigniew Franczuk. Zbigniew was born in a Polish resettlement camp near Startford on Avon and shared with us some moving stories about his childhood there. Teresa is the head of Polish Catholic Mission in Stratford on Avon and is a very well known face on the Polish map of Stratford - one with a big heart too! We had a wonderful time visiting them and felt privileged to view a special war artefact - a blanket knitted by Polish mothers exiled by the Russians to Siberia during WWII. This amazing treasure will form a part of our exhibition once our project is completed. Do you have any other ideas of how we could retell the unique stories of our local heroes? Please share them with us!
